WHOA FUNKY SPACE BATTLE

This was for my digital illustration class, character we designed earlier interacting with an environment. My character design here: [link]

We also needed to incorporate our own textures, so I scanned a bunch of handmade paper and used that. Line art is actually traditional, changed the colour in photoshop.

I tried to work with an 80s color palette, there were… Difficulties. Had to use some references from Jem and the Holograms. Don’t tell.

So anyway, it’s my glam rock space captain lady, being the selfless hero on the battlefield that she always is. I would just like to clarify that she is not a weak or “girly” character, she’s just kind of a dick. A vain, arrogant dick. The last thing I want to do is promote a dumb female character stereotype. I’m sick of girls always having to be either a ditz or a bitch, as I myself am a female and more of a little shit, or maybe a prick. Yeah, prick is most apt, I’d say.

Oh, and anyone who guesses what I based the monster on gets my respect. That’s it. I’m cheap.
